How is parasailing different from parachuting?

Para-gliding is a form of flying above ground using a harness and a small sail. You can fly with the harness. It keeps you safe when you're falling through the air.

You don't need any equipment to fly. Simply attach yourself to your sail. Then, you can take off. As you ascend, the wind pushes against your sail. This causes it to lift you.

As you glide along, your momentum keeps you moving forward. You continue to move forward with your momentum until you reach the end. You let go of the cable and you return to earth.

You can reattach the sail when you are ready to begin again.

Parasailing is a rapidly growing sport. Parasailing attracted more than 1,000,000 participants in 2013. It was almost double the number that did so in 2008.
